Co-Investigators

  • Dr. Mace is a clinical health psychologist, researcher, and associate professor of Psychology at MGH/HMS. His clinical specialties include anxiety, depression, and chronic illness in older adults. Additionally, his research focuses on the integration of mindfulness, lifestyle behaviors, and technology to promote brain health with aging.

  • Dr. Plys is a clinical geropsychologist at MGH CHOIR and a member of faculty at HMS. His research focuses on developing interventions for older adults and their caregivers for managing serious and/or chronic illness with emphasis on under resourced populations, areas, and healthcare settings. His clinical interests are in geropsychologist, caregiving, palliative care, long-term care, and dementia-related behavior management.

  • Dr. Bartles is a geriatric psychologist, the director of the Mongan Institute, and a member of faculty at MGH-HMS. He has longstanding experience conducting research in older adult populations, health promotion interventions, research on health disparities, and prior research on musculoskeletal pain and physical activity in older adults. Currently, He is an active research investigator in implementation research.

  • Dr. Ritchie is a geriatrics and palliative care physician, and the director of Research for the Division of Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine at MGH, and the Mongan Institute Center for Aging and Serious Illness respectively. Her research focuses on optimizing quality of life for individuals with chronic serious illness, multimorbidity, older people with complex serious illnesses, and multimorbidity with an emphasis on people living with high illness burden.

  • Dr. Sylvia is a psychologist, a director at Dauten Family Center for Bipolar Treatment Innovation, and a member of faculty at MGH-HMS. She is an expert clinician with experience in developing, implementing, valuating psychosocial interventions, and managing and overseeing clinical trials.

  • Dr. Parker is an associate investigator at MGH Biostatistics and an associate professor of Medicine at HMS. He has been a biostatistician in medical research in government, academia, and industry for over 30 years. His research interests are in non-standard study design, non-standard data analysis, and the art of statistical consulting.

  • Dr. Joo is a geriatric psychiatrist and health services researcher at MGH. Her research focuses on improving engagement in mental health care among underserved (e.g. low income and ethnic minority) older adults with depression. Furthermore, in her research she strives to understand existing mental health disparities, use qualitative methods to understand the context and meaning of mental health and treatment for underserved communities.

  • Dr. Reed is an internal medicine physician, with extensive experience providing care to underserved populations, and enhancing public health. Dr. Reed is currently Principal of WellnessRox DPC, LLC—an integrative medicine primary care practice—and participates on the Boards of TWC, (Wellness Collaborative, Inc.), CC:S2S (Community Conversations: Sister to Sister) and CCHERS (Center for Community Health Education, Research and Service, Inc).
